KP Open Team Race

Great breeze out of the northwest today that varied between moderate strength and white capping from 1000 until 1515, at which point the wind velocity dropped off significantly. Unfortunately, the breeze never came back, so the call was made to end things for the day after 29 races.

St. Mary's and Tufts are both undefeated at the end of day one with Miami and Penn both at 4-2 in a tie for third.

Incredibly similar conditions to Saturday just from nearly the opposite direction. Unfortunately, today's southerly died out much sooner than yesterday's breeze. As a result, the regatta did not quite get to a particularly satisfactory level of completion.

The round robin was finished up around 1200 and the decision was made to go Top 6 & Bottom 4. Sadly, the aforementioned deescalation of breeze occurred only 10 races into the second round. The call was thus made to wrap things up with no hope left to get in the 11 races that were needed.

For those that are curious, the results of the Top 6 Round prior to the regatta ending were as follows:

Penn won vs. St Mary's with a 1-2-5 -- Tufts won vs. Hobart with a 1-2-6 -- Bowdoin won vs. Miami with a 1-2-4 -- Hobart won vs. Penn with a 1-2-5 -- St. Mary's won vs. Miami with a 1-2-6 -- Tufts won vs. -- Bowdoin with a 1-2-3 -- Miami won vs. Hobart with a 2-3-5 -- Tufts won vs. Penn with a 1-3-5 (in extremely light breeze towards the end of the race)
