The 41st Silver Grey Lynne Marchiando Trophy

Summary

Saturday, March 30:

A great day of racing on the Charles River with 2 full round robins and 84 races run between the Cardinal Red and Silver Grey Lynne Marchiando trophies. Wind shifted between West and North at 10-20 knots.

Huge thank you to the umpire team who kept a furious pace all day. John Pratt was chief umpire assisted by Franny Charles, Ken Legler, Kyle Welch, Clinton Hayes, Trevor Long, John Tagliamonte, Zack Shapiro, Jack Plavin, and George Eristoff.

Breakdowns were handled by MIT dockmasters Stew Craig and Dan Tucker. Finish boat was staffed by Yitian Zhu, Wendy Wu, Max Katz-Christy, and Nicky Abate.

2 redresses were heard, one granted for a sail-off between BC and CGA first thing tomorrow and the other redress was denied. Another protest was disallowed.

Big thanks to all the sailors for keeping the rotation moving. One round robin is planned for tomorrow.

Sunday, March 31:

A total of 127 races were completed throughout the weekend.

Once again, a huge thank you to the umpire team who showed up on Easter Sunday to support college sailing. John Pratt was chief umpire assisted by Franny Charles, Ken Legler, Kyle Welch, Clinton Hayes, Trevor Long, John Tagliamonte, Zack Shapiro, Jack Plavin, and George Eristoff.

Finish boat was staffed by Hanna Vincent, Max Wood, Walker Cox and another BB&N student who's name I didn't catch.

Shoreside ops were administered by by MIT weekend dockmaster Dan Tucker.

Another round robin with 42 races overall was completed in fickle NW wind that pulsed as strong as 15 knots and faded to 3 knots and everything in between. There were big shifts that averaged NW.

Congrats to Yale and Harvard for winning their respective events. -Matt Lindblad
