Top 9/Women's Susan Rogers '75 Memorial Regatta

Summary

Saturday, September 24:

The day started with weak southerly and we were able to complete 1 race for the Women's fleet. the fleet headed in for a lunch break and launched again at 11:45

As a whole we were able to complete 4 races for each fleet as the wind filled in softly from the north. It was light but quality races were sailed.

After the rotations the wind did not cooperate and we had to call it off for the day.

Coaches from Fordham, Suny, Penn, HWS were helpful once again assisting with the course and ensure the safety of our athletes participating.

Looking forward for tomorrow, although forecast calls for more wind, some lightning and thunder are expected as well.

Sunday, September 25:

The morning started with a big storm passing over Cayuga Lake. We were able to stick to our schedule at started on time despite many storm cells around Ithaca. The wind was stable from the South velocity of about 7-10 knots.

The racing was great with W4's all the way except for the last race of the second rotation which we finished upwind to allow efficient finish closer to shore and rotation dock.

At the Top 9 / Open Fleet our friends from GW finished in 3rd place with total of 176 points followed in 2nd were SUNY with 132 just short of HWS with 127. Well done to HWS!

The Women's fleet raced for the Susan Rogers '75 Memorial Trophy and Cornell Topped the podium and 2nd place overall. Senior Meredith Moran & Freshmen Sophia Mulvania came in 2nd overall yet with help of Junior JJ Smith & Sophomore Amelia Neumann who came in 3rd overall - Big Red 1 combined score put them on top of the overall leaderboard.

Cornell took 2nd spot as well just 7 points shy of first place and in 3rd place GW.

Thank you all for coming and supporting. It was efficient high quality races and we all benefit from a great fall weekend on Cayuga Lake.
