Admiral's Cup

Summary

Saturday, April 25:

Cold and wet day at KP to start off the 2026 Admiral's Cup. With breeze out of various easterly directions things got shifty and at times particularly light. 8 races were completed in both divisions with one of them a redo of a race that was abandoned due to ebbing current massively skewing the course.

Three protest hearings were held resulting in two DSQs and one disallowed. Thank you to coaches Mak (Hampton), Brendan (Fordham), Ben (UVM), and Charlie (Conn College) for running those hearings.

Miami has a big lead after day one. 2nd through 8th place are all much closer - with 6 races planned for tomorrow it seems some shakeups in the standings are definitely possible.

Sunday, April 26:

Much warmer and drier at KP today with a moderate breeze out of the northeast that oscillated all day. Both race committee and competitors did a great job working with that variability.

Three hearing requests were brought forth with one resulting in redress granted to USC, another found invalid under procedural rule 29.b, and the final one resulting in breakdown points awarded to BU. Thank you to Coach Brendan from Fordham and Coach Carter from BU for their help with those.

Some teams crept a bit closer today but ultimately Miami was able to hang on to seal the deal on winning the 2026 Admiral’s Cup - congrats to the Canes!

Thank you to RC volunteers TJ Shea (PRO), Jon Huzil, Claudine Gafar, Alim Gafar, and Captain John Ryan. Thanks as well to the KP staff and midn that once again worked together to make the regatta work well for everyone else.

See you back here at Kings Point in the fall.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
