Mendums Invite

Summary

Sunday, April 23:

Wow, what a day for the Mendums Invite. We began the day with temps in the very low 40s, cold water (just ask the two boats who capsized), and traditional Mendums shifty, with fluctuating velocity, breeze. The course was reset 4 times before the first race was able to be sailed. Eight races were finally sailed in this mess with some tight finishes. The breeze had many left-hand shifts, and complacent sailors learned quickly that righties came in with a vengeance. Races were run with the I flag up after the second race keeping the aggressive starts under control.

Thanks to the coaches who were a great help moving marks, and a special shout out to UNH new sailor Jackson Scheele who braved the weather to help score and manage flags. Thanks also to the cadre of UNH sailors on land who inputed scores, managed boats and the dock.

UNH Wildcats 1 A and BU B teams each won Reece’s for their stellar bullets. Congratulations to the Wildcats 1 team of Grace/Marty and Sam/Sean for winning the spring Mendums Invite.

Dartmouth was a no show.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
