SAISA Open Fleet Race Championships

Summary

Saturday, April 9:

We got started with two races in the river in a strong Westerly. Breezes built to over 20 knots at times and we were only able to get two A Division races in prior to a new line of even stronger breezes forced the RC to cancel for the remainder of the day. We had one protest resulting in a DSQ in Race 1A.

Sunday, April 10:

Land breeze and sea breeze fought throughout much of the day but we were able to get 3 B division and 1 A division race in on the crab bank. Conditions were very tricky with big shifts and a large range of velocity. The final B Division race finished with an inversion but the race was almost done so the RC decided to let it stand. With this they sent the fleet in for the day at 2:30. PRO Chip Till and his faithful crew of Mark Deguire and MC Deguire did a great job to get these races in despite the tough conditions. Congrats to NC State for winning the event and to CofC for finishing second as both teams earn spots at the ICSA National Fleet Race Championship Semifinals later this spring in New Orleans.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
