First Year Icebreaker

Saturday, March 26:

Racing for First Year Icebreaker began promptly at 10:00am with moderate and gusty wind of ~7-10 knots out the the northwest. These wind conditions were paired with cold weather, under 30 degrees when racing commenced. A strong morning of racing was recorded before temperatures continued to fall and gusts strengthened. Racing was called for the day a bit earlier than planned due to weather. All in all we were able to get in 10 races for A fleet and 8 races for B fleet in an overall good day of sailing.

Sunday, March 27:

Racing on Sunday began with B fleet going out to brave even more frigid temperatures. Wind was shifty and gusty out of the northwest at ~6-8 knots sustained. Windchill of 14 degrees made for less than favorable conditions with lines freezing and icicles forming on the boats. Despite this, we were able to finish the regatta with 30 total races between A and B fleets. Congratulations to Michigan for winning First Year Icebreaker and thank you to all our Notre Dame volunteers for helping to put on such a successful event.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
