Bob Bavier Team Race

Since there was so much concern about heavy breeze in Charleston a delayed report time of noon was determined to be the right decision. Sure enough the breeze was topping off at 25 in the mid morning until the teams arrived at noon. Soon the breeze leveled off at a great 10-15 and racing was started at 1:30. By 4:45 the first round and even the first flight in the second round was completed in a challenging 12-18 breeze. The racing was close and though breezy, was excellent. Roger Williams sailed a super strong day and was undefeated!. Thanks to our umpires led by Jeff Borland- Ryan Davidson, Kathy and Mike Lingdren, Jeff Woodard and Erv Grove for helping manage the racing and the Cougars for keeping the racing rolling. Tomorrow report time is 9am and plans are to sail a second round with a top 4 and a lower 4 to complete the day! Looks like a great day on Sunday!

Though today was a bit on the chilly side for the likes of Charleston these days, the north/ northeast breeze at 8-15 was prefect. The racing started promptly at 10am and the remainder of round 2 was completed by 1pm. A 1-4 round and a 5-8 round were sailed with the last race starting at 2:30. The racing was close and the breeze shifty enough to keep it interesting. But in the end it was Roger Williams who held on for a well earned victory in a tie breaker win over Charleston. Yale finished third and Georgetown fourth. St Marys rounded out the top five.
