MCSA Team Race Championship

Sailors arrived at the University of Wisconsin’s Memorial Union to cool weather and 16-23mph wind out of the north, shifting more northeast throughout the day. Two round robins were completed with one re-sail at the end of the day due to a breakdown in race 36. Thank you to our Race Committee PRO Mark Prange and Bill Groskopf for allowing us to get 2 full round robins in today and umpires Mike Kasper, Dennis Bartley, Clifford Black, Geoff Pedrick, Dave Gorwitz, Dave Keck, Tom Atkins, and Whitney Kent for ensuring fair racing. Another thank you goes out to Wisco alum Kirstin Reeser('15) for scoring the finishes. A special thanks goes out to Noah Janssen and Tom Groskopf for planning and running this event and the Wisco sailors that helped out. Tomorrow the top 4 teams will compete for the 2 qualifying spots for nationals.

Sunday brought rain and mist with breeze ranging from 7-15mph. The breeze tapered off in the middle of racing but picked back up for the last flight. Two Final Four rounds were completed. Thank you to our Race Committee PRO Mark Prange and Bill Groskopf for allowing us to get 12 races in today. Our team of umpires lead by Mike Kasper included Dennis Bartley, Geoff Pedrick, Dave Gorwitz, Dave Keck, Tom Atkins, Whitney Kent, and, a last minute add-on, Carolyn Keck. Another thank you goes out to Wisco alum Kirstin Reeser('15) for scoring the finishes. A special shout out goes out to all the Wisco sailors who helped out this weekend as well as the Hoofers shop staff for their extensive work the past 2 weeks making sure that our facilities and all 18 of our boats were ready for this event. Congratulations to Northwestern University for winning the 2017 MCSA Team Race Championship! Northwestern along with 2nd place Wisconsin will go on to represent the MCSA at ICSA Team Race Nationals at the College of Charleston.
