SAISA Match Race Conference Championships

Summary

Saturday, September 24:

Seven teams attended the 2022 SAISA Match Race at CofC. The teams were seeded by the conference scheduler and we went straight into a shoot out format. JU had the first round by, while Florida Tech and Charleston defeated Embry-Riddle and Georgia in the first two matches. Georgia Tech went one and one with USF; Georgia Tech took the the third point to move on to the semis. Florida Tech and Charleston both took the first two points from JU and Georgia Tech to move on to the finals. USF had the by going into the consolation round. Georgia beat Embry-Ridle, but then lost to USF. Charleston dropped the first race in the finals to Florida Tech, but fought back to win the next three points to secure the victory. The racing took place on Crab Bank in a very unstable 4-8 knot ESE wind. As the ebb tide slaked the wind became more stable from the SE @ 10-12 knots.
