Laser North Qualifier

Summary

Saturday, September 10:

Sailors arrived to a glassy Long Island Sound this morning. A patchy northerly faded throughout the morning with all wind readings below the minimum 3 kts.

A seabreeze began filling around 1500 and racing got underway shortly thereafter. Both race courses featured a shifty SWerly breeze at 6-8 knots with 10-15 degree shifts. The breeze slowly clocked left and settled throughout the afternoon, to 10 knots out of the due South by the final races.

SUNY Maritime's Spencer Barnes leads after Day 1, with Nicholas Sessions of HWS and Carrter Pearce of Kings Point rounding out 2nd and 3rd leading into Sunday.

Report time for Sunday is pushed back to 1000, given the very lackluster breeze forecast for the morning. Please see the SI Amendment for an updated schedule for the day.

Sunday, September 11:

Day two began with a delayed report time of 1000 due to forecast. Breeze was 2-5 its from the southwest, shifting right all afternoon. Light showers brought variable pressures, and Long Island sound current made it a tough race course.

Lasers competed only one race in marginal conditions to conclude the Laser North Qualifier.

Congrats to the Top-9 sailors for qualifying for the Carl Van Duyne (MAISA Singlehanded Champs). Great performance from SUNY's Spencer Barnes, scoring no worse than a 3rd. As well as HWS's Nicholas Sessions, and KP's Carrter Pearce for rounding out the top three.

Thank you to Kings Point Sailing Team for all their hard work supporting 3 simultaneous events.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
