A great first day of the Singlehanded Championship. Sailors were postponed on the water in the morning for an hour. A 2-3kt Northerly filled in at 12:30 and racing began. Racing took place North of Corinthian Yacht Club by Golden Gardens Beachfront. Conditions stayed consistent throughout the first day of racing, with gusts of 4kts rolling through towards the end of racing. Race committee completed 8 races for both the Men and the Women’s fleets before sending sailors in at around 5pm. Thanks so much to John Renehan for running races and UW Sailing Alumni and volunteers for staffing extra boats!
Competitors were glad to see the breeze already filling in by the time they arrived at Corinthian Yacht Club for a 10:30am first warning. In the beginning of the day, conditions were a 5-6kt Northerly with gusts of 7-8kts and lots of chop. Competitors were faced with varying wind conditions and current in play. Racing took place outside of the breakwater in front of Corinthian Yacht Club. Race committee completed 8 more races for both fleets, totaling 16 races for the regatta. Race committee sent sailors in at 1:45pm for the day. UW sailors Erik Skeel and Farzana Mohamedali placed first, qualifying for Singlehanded Nationals in Santa Barbara on November 9th and 10th.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
