Chris Loder Trophy

Summary

Saturday, September 28:

What a stunning day on Mendums! Breeze from the SSW and shifty, shifty gave the sailors 8-10 with gusts in the mid teens. Several capsizes in the bigger puffs. MMA 1 honourably withdrew from a race due to a foul. A and B divisions each sailed six races with Northeastern in the lead at the end of the day tied with Tufts 2.

Sailors were treated to some brief remarks from Chris Loder who drove down with his family from Chebeague Is. Monster Dogs for lunch today and Wildcat Muffins for breakfast in the morning.

WPI was a no show.

Sunday, September 29:

Another fantastic day and Wildcat Muffins with hot coffee greeted sailors today. Lots of visiting parents and friends spectating from the point as well. Racing got underway with breeze 8-10 with occasional higher gusts. The NNW breeze proved extremely shifty and geography around the island and left shoreline made things very difficult. We were able to get off a total of 10 races in each division. Northeastern solidified their lead today over the Jumbos 1 and 2. Although no protest was filed both UVM and Northeastern discussed a situation which occurred at the windward mark at the end of the day that likely could have impacted their lead.

Many thanks to the Wildcats for assistance in both the RC, mark boat as well as on shore both days: Emily, Sofi, Boat Manager David, Kelsey, Caroline, Treasurer Katelyn, Elizabeth, Captain Clay and Anthony. A special thanks again to the Loder family who over the years reminds us all that soon everyone becomes an alumni and supporting their team whether by just showing up, or with words of wisdom or financially the bond that a team creates doesn't cease to exist after graduation.

Caroline took lots of pictures from the RC boat on Saturday and the link to those pictures is: https://photos.app.goo.gl/rE9WXKXB7bD7MFe38

Congratulations to Northeastern for winning the Chris Loder Trophy.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
