Kilpatrick Regatta, Oklahoma City Boat Club, Lake Hefner
The regatta began with a cloudy sky air and temperature in the low 80's, and a south wind at 15-18 mph. By afternoon, the sun had come out and the wind dropped to 12-15 mph, with a few westerly shifts challenging the racers and indicating the near proximity of a cold front. While swapping boats prior to the final rotation later in the afternoon, the front passed through with the wind shifting to the north at 24 mph and gusting to 30 mph -- this providing some of the most exciting sailing of the day. Four full rotations (16 races) in 420's were completed just prior to the 5:00 p.m. deadline.
Congratulations to the Texas Longhorns for dominating on the race course throughout the regatta. Thanks to PRO David Bass, recorder Ann Kilpatrick (for whom the regatta is named), and UCO alumni Marissa Thelen on the RC boat and OCU alumni Timothy Harlin, OSU alumni Ian Jones, and UCO alumni Jordan Johnson for staying busy with the mark-set boat. Donna Bass supervised the shoreside operations, including scoring and providing lunch. This regatta was co-hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma Sailing Team and the Oklahoma City Boat Club.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
