Corpus Christi Spring Open #2

Summary

Saturday, April 20:

The day started with a reshuffle of the fleet and an agreement at the competitors meeting that both A and B would start together for a larger fleet experience, but be scored separately, and no rotation of boats. Additionally, due to the high wind conditions, mast floats were rigged on all boats to prevent turtleing capsizes. After some difficulty setting the signal boat anchor in 20-23 kts of wind and chop, the course was set and racing started at 1100. Wind for the first six races averaged 20 kts gusting 25 kts, moderating in the afternoon to 16-20 kts. The fleet handled the conditions well, with only a few capsizes. All twelve scheduled races were run Saturday, with the final race concluding at 1450. Ashore a meeting of competitors and coaches agreed that we had a regatta finished. For those who traveled to participate and wanted to stay and sail more, we would hold an optional event on Sunday to enjoy the sailing.

Sunday, April 21:

Winds on Sunday were 22+ kts, gusting to 30 kts. with sporadic lightning and thunderstorms. Sailing was canceled for the day.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
