Jeremy McIntyre Team Race

Summary

Saturday, February 22:

Saturday of the 2020 Jeremy McIntyre Memorial Team Race began with Jesse Andrews from the University of Hawaii telling the story of the regatta's namesake. Jeremy's vast contributions to college sailing, the Stanford sailing team, and his community carry on to this day. As we waited for the breeze to fill, sailors were treated to stories from the past about those who came before them and their true passion and enthusiasm for the enjoyment of racing sailboats with and against your friends.

The breeze started out of the north at 4-6 then backed to the north-northwest and built to 8-10 with flat water and ripping current. 44 races were completed in superb team racing conditions.

Thank you to Jesse for serving as the ICSA rep and also for helping with the rotation boat out on the water.

Thank you as well to our awesome umpire team of Bryan McDonald, John Christman, Greg Meagher, Vicki Sodaro, and Rob Overton.

Tomorrow we'll shoot to finish the second round robin and complete at top-4/bottom-5 round robin.

Sunday, February 23:

Another great day of team racing for day two of the Jeremy McIntyre Team Race. The breeze ranged from 3-8 knots throughout the course of the day and was quite shifty at times, but the race committee took their timing moving marks to keep things as square as possible. After two round robins were completed, three ties remained, all of which were broken via a sail-off.

Thank you again to our great team of umpires which were all the same from day one with the addition of Sam White today. Thank you as well to Jesse Andrews for serving as the ICSA rep and helping on the rotation boat. And a big shoutout to Matthew Hogan (Stanford '21) for running the finish boat solo all day today!

Congrats to the Cardinal women for their solid performance, going undefeated!
