Women's Atlantic Coast Championship

Summary

Saturday, November 12:

Our competitors meeting started with wonderful and respected remarks from Adam Werblow and former C of C director of sailing Doc Wood about the passing this past Monday of Cougar All American Phebe Corckran King '96. Phebe was a valued member of the C of C program and we all will miss her and our prayers and wishes are there for her husband Aden, her children and all her family. The fleet was greeted with a shifty tricky Northeasterly that eventually "steadied" and remained 10-18 all day. The "standard" Charleston current change took place in the middle of the day that resulted in a few recalls but still allowed all 10 races/ both divisions being completed by 3:45pm! Congrats to Coast Guard on a great day handling the tricky conditions and thanks to the Cougars for running some nice races. Sunday we'll see more of the same conditions and all are looking forward to another great day.

Sunday, November 13:

The fleet today was greeted with a little different condition with the breeze at the north 15-18 and a jumping 2.5 knot ebb tide. Weather mark roundings were challenging to say the least and many sailors made numerous attempts to make the top mark. Sometimes a tack was called for to make the offset! As the tide settled down the breeze picked up to almost 20 and a nice rain settled in. Still, though the conditions were challenging for both the sailors and race management team, all the races were sailed and teams left the center to warm up by 2:45. Congrats to Coast Guard, BC, and URI for a great series. No protests were filed. Thanks to the Cougar team for working so hard to make the regatta a success.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
