2026 South Designate competitors were greeted by champagne conditions on Saturday, a steady 10 to 13 knot breeze which built constantly over the course of the day. The current was in play all day, starting with a strong flood that decreased and gradually backed over the course of the day. Competition was stiff in the A and B Division as teams competed for a spot at the 2026 PCCSC Open Conference Fleet Race hosted by USC later this spring.
Sunday started off with a 12 knot breeze blowing from the golden gate bridge which fluctuated throughout the day, bottoming out around 5 knots during race 5B. In light air the current proved to be a determining factor, with a left hand race track leading competitors to short tack the shore to seek relief. Stanford came out on top by 18 points when the dust settled following a five team redress hearing over improper use of the X flag. Rounding out the top 5 were UCSB, Hawaii, USC and UC Irvine in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.
Thank you to the St. Francis Yacht Club for their incredible hospitality all weekend long, and the race committee for their dedication and time.
The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
