Laker Showdown

The first race of the day started closer to 10a. The conditions were challenging and light throughout the day, with wind oscillating from the left to the right side of the course during the morning, and then shifting a full 180 degrees in the afternoon and becoming more unpredictable. Many races took much longer than anticipated and several boats were finished in place in some races. Marks were constantly being adjusted for the frequent and significant shifts, leading to longer down time between races.

Nonetheless, we were able to have four full rotations in by the time we wrapped up for the day, around four-thirty.

After agreeing to give Sunday racing a try despite the heavy conditions, boats were ready to start shortly after nine-thirty. With sustained wind increasing into the upper teens, we still decided to attempt a race in A fleet. The upwind legs were tough for all, and almost all boats were power reaching on the downwind.

Unfortunately, due to a number of boats who had capsized, the race was ultimately abandoned, and then racing was called off for the rest of the weekend soon thereafter.

The GV Sailing team would like to thank all of the teams that participated for their patience and understanding while we corrected rotations and entered scores.
