The day started with a light 3-5 knots coming in from the northeast. Large shifts provided a competitive and difficult first race with an even lighter and difficult second race. Two more rotations were completed with wind shifting from the northeast to the north and northwest. Thanks to the race committee for being so diligent moving marks to keep the course fair in such difficult conditions. An on-land postponement was called at 2:30pm for a lightning storm that quickly moved in. After the storm passed racing resumed with one final B fleet rotation bringing the total of number races for the day to 8.
The day was defined by a consistent 5-8 knot breeze coming up from the south and sporadic light rain. Races got started early at 10am with the good conditions allowing for quick rotations and competitive races. 10 races were completed before heading in at 3:00pm. Thank you to WWU, Gonzaga, PSU, and OSU for making it out. Congratulations to Portland State for their first regatta back in the conference in over a year. Additionally, congratulations to many members of the UO, OSU, Gonzaga, and PSU teams who this was their first college regatta. Huge thanks to Eugene Yacht Club for providing us with an incredible venue and support and to our incredible volunteer race committee who makes this regatta possible.
