Charley Dole PCCSC Women's Fleet Race Championship

Summary

Saturday, April 11:

Racing started on time at 10:45, with a steady South-easterly breeze blowing 9-12 kts with consistent rain and chop. Racing continued steadily throughout the day as wind speeds declined. The last race of the day was sailed right before 5:00 pm where the breeze had died down to 4-8 kts. Racing was tight between all teams making for a very exciting regatta.

Sunday, April 12:

Sunday saw dead wind in the morning leading to a late start at about 11:30 AM. Wind filled in from the West, steadily building. No rain or chop, with oscillations of ~6-8 kts between course right and left, making for slow, but intense racing. While returning National Champion Stanford began to run away with the event, the next four teams (WWU, UW, UCSB, and UH) all took turns being in 2nd place as they fought fiercely for the final automatic qualifying spot to nationals. Ultimately, despite a DSQ, host school Western Washington got the 2nd place finish with UH, UW, and UCSB close behind. The last race of the day was finished right before 03:00. Congratulations to Stanford, Western Washington, and University of Hawai'i for placing top 3! A total of 10 races were sailed throughout the entire weekend.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
