The inaugural Blaire Herron Memorial Team race was held at the Washington Sailing Marina in beautiful conditions. Blaire was a four time all-American sailor at Georgetown and part of 2 national championship teams. Sadly she passed away in 2020. Her father Matt Herron and many of Blaire’s teammates attended the regatta and reception on Saturday night.
The racing on Saturday was held in the lagoon with winds NNW at 5-8mph. The breeze lightened up all day and racing was postponed at 3 and called for the day at 4 when the wind showed no signs of filling. 13 races were held.
Many thanks to the umpiring crew of Gwynie Dunlevy, Jack Reiter, Piper Holthus, JP Panarella, Caro Gaston, Morgan Rice and Nathaniel Winters.
Another beautiful day on the Potomac. A light southerly filled in and racing began under sunny skies at 10am. The first round robin was completed in the lagoon and then a Top 4 and bottom 4 were sailed in the River with racing finishing at 230PM. Winds were SSE 7-10mph.
Thanks again to the umpires for keeping racing clean. Thanks also to the Georgetown undergrads for running the races. Thanks also to ICSA Executive Director Peter Fanta for serving as the ICSA rep and stepping in to help run all the races.
Congrats to Georgetown for winning the 2026 Blaire Herron Memorial Team Race
