It was a busy day on the Thames River, with the inaugural CGA J70 Finals sailing north of the Rock and the NEISA Women’s Fleet Race Championship taking place just to the south. Nine races were completed, beginning in a light northeasterly breeze that shifted east over the first set, before swinging fully to the south and building for the next two sets. The Thames saw a strong ebb current that continued to build over the day, creating fun and challenging wind-against-tide conditions on the starting line. Sailors handled the ebb well, with only 1 general recall, and excellent starting overall. Racing remains tight across the fleet, with the Coast Guard Bears, Rhode Island Rams, and Brown Bears leading the charge heading into day two.
