We completed the first round robin today and got through the first three flights of the second round robin. Wind started from the SE at 4-8knts building with big shifty puffs all day and midafternoon settled into a WSW breeze at 18-25knts with puffs into the upper 20s/low 30s. Temperature stayed just below 60 today with water temps still in the low 40s requiring drysuits. We saw current flowing from the Whitestone which created some interesting races during the light wind moments. One protest was filed in race 30 and disallowed. Many thanks to our fantastic Race Committee, Shore Support, and Umpires for making the day successful and reacting effectively to the shifty breeze.
Today started with a shifty westerly in the mid-teens with gusts in the upper teens. It slowly died through the day, ending racing before we could complete a Top 4 Round Robin as the current overpowered the breeze. Navy Sailing won the event and was presented with the Admiral Moore Trophy by Admiral Okon. We were very excited to have Admiral Moore's Great Granddaughter, Gracie, onsite as well for the event. Many thanks to our outstanding race committee, umpires, shore team, and competitors for such a strong performance all weekend and for working with the shifty conditions.
