The first day of the championship saw temps in the 80's with winds from the southwest at 5-12 knots. 12 races were completed in each division.
Stanford taking an early lead, fnishing the day with 137 points, followed by Dartmouth College with 161 in second and Yale University in third.
PRO's Carter Brock and Tom Duggan managed the race course with Morgan Termaat, Grace Mao, Julius Hoekkoetter and Andy Yu in the finish boat and Matt Lindblad moving marks.
Chief judge John Pratt led a strong team of judges including John Mooney, Trevor Long, Rick Myers, and Nevin Snow. 4 protests were heard resulting in 3 DSQ's.
On shore, MIT Dockmaster Stew Craig managed breakdowns and Educational Coordinator Hannah Agate managed the shore team and all shoreside logistics. The shore team included Dave Hill, Xantine Agar, Sebi Revesz and Max Wood.
Photorgrapher Dave Curtis took amazing photographs and Lexi Pline from US Sailing provided excellent social media coverage.
Special thanks to the ABM cleaning staff who worked all day long to keep on top of trash and cleaning throughout the day.
6 races in each division are planned to complete the format.

With thunderstorms forecasted for the early afternoon, RC had a course in place and started right at 10:30 am with hopes to get as many races as possible in the 4-7 knot southwesterly before the weather rolled in. 3 races were held in each division before racing was postponed at 12:20 with multiple lightning strikes in the close vicinity shortly after the fleet secured their boats and sheltered. At 2:30, sailors heading back out but the wind filled in several directions and died before returning to the SW with 4-7 knots. RC was able to complete two more races in each division to finish with 17 races.
Stanford finished strong to secure the win. Dartmouth held onto their second place until the Race 17 when Boston College’s strong finishes propelled them to secure second place overall. Dartmouth finished third with a total of 236 points.
