The "Next 5" event of the Sunshine City Team Race on St. Patrick's Day was unfortunately a battle against the whim of the winds.
A southerly gradient breeze was competing against a westerly sea breeze trying to form due to the 80+ degree air temperature. Several races were started, only to be abandoned when a 90 degree shift would occur, but one full round robin of 10 races was eventually completed.
Special thanks to all of the competitors for their patience. Congratulations to the University of Miami for their winning 4-0 record, followed by the USF Bulls with a 3-1 record and the USF Women's team with a 2-2 record. The regatta was honored to have University of California Berkeley and Texas A&M visiting from a far, finishing 4th and 5th respectively.
