Florida Trophy

Summary

Saturday, March 23:

Champagne conditions on Lake Virginia for the 2024 Florida Trophy. Races started on time at 10:00am and lasted through the afternoon. Two sets of three races were completed for each division. A Division sailed their first set in SW 4-8kts before the remaining races were sailing in a W wind with velocity 9-13kts. Classic LVA conditions with large breeze disparities in both velocity and angle. The Scenic Boat Tours were running all day throwing around some wake on each course, challenging sailors to work through an extra wrinkle of adversity. No protests or breakdowns were filed as sailors exonerated themselves appropriately.

Congratulations to the Jacksonville Fins for their back-to-back Florida Trophy titles. The podium was rounded out by the Tars and Jacksonville’s ‘Dolphin’ team for 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Special thanks to KA Hamner ’26, Maggie Burnham ’26, and Julia Scott ’27 for supporting the event as RC.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
