The Ashley River Trophy

Summary

Saturday, February 12:

The renewal of The Citadel's Ashley River Trophy began on an ebb tide & 2-4 knot northerly that eventually died out and shifted around to a 3-5 knot southerly that came in with the tide switch around noon.

This event marks the first time a regatta has been held out of The Citadel campus in nearly four decades and it is the inaugural regatta to ever be held out of our newly constructed Swain Boating Center.

Congratulations to The Citadel on winning, University of South Carolina finishing 2nd and Clemson University rounding out the podium in 3rd place.

Sadly (and also equally hilariously), two of The Citadel boats did not make it out of the channel as the tide was going out and spent the afternoon sitting high and dry on the pluff mud at low tide. We're looking forward to the continuation of the dredging of our channel to allow for sailing at all tides out of The Swain Boating Center. Thank you to UofSC & Clemson for making the trip down.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
