2021 College Sailing Women's Nationals

Summary

Wednesday, May 19:

You heard right, College Sailing Nationals is happening!! With the help of the Annapolis Sailing School, Eastport Yacht Club, Severn Sailing Association, Annapolis Yacht Club, and Georgetown University, the United States Naval Academy is running the 2021 College Sailing Women's National Championship. Four races were sailing in the morning in a building southerly seabreeze that peaked at twelve knots before taking a lunch break. In the afternoon, the sailors and coaches made their way back to the same course location and cranked out another six races as the breeze slowly faded in the evening. Four hearings were filed resulting in one granted redress, and one DSQ. The ladies from the top eighteen schools in the country return to the waters of Annapolis tomorrow morning to finish off the regatta and determine who is the best in the nation.

Thursday, May 20:

Day two of the 2021 College Sailing Women's National Championship started off postponed ashore due to a lack of wind. After an hour waiting on shore the breeze looked promising so, the sailors launched and headed out to the race course off of Horn Point. Then the wind died. The regatta calmly floated around before taking an early lunch break and then coming back out to the course. Finally around 1300, a three to five knot east north east wind settled in enough to run races. Six races per division were sailed, all under six knots, before our race clock ran out. No requests for hearings were filed. This regatta could not have been put on without the help of all our supporting venues, schools, volunteers and our entire team of Midshipmen regatta personnel. A huge thanks to PRO Steve Podlich and Judges Sandy Grosvenor, Charlie Arms, Margaret Podlich, Kim Couranz, and Jeff Borland. Congratulations to the College of Charleston Cougars for winning the 2021 College Sailing Women's National Championship!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
