MIT FJ Team Racing Invite

Summary

Saturday, March 7:

Great racing in a very cold northerly breeze at 10-20 with some gnarly puffs. Eleven teams ultimately made the event so the British University Teams acted as our BYE team. They had a rough day on the Charles River and didn't win a race.... Roger Williams had a great day going 9-2 followed by the MIT Women at 8-3. In total 66 races were held and the same number is on tap for tomorrow with a second round.

Many thanks to the coaches who came out on the water to umpire and Wally Corwin who handled everything on the dock side during rotations. Extra special shout out to all of the MIT Engineers who assisted in the finish boat and keeping tech score up to date throughout the event.

Sunday, March 8:

Roger Williams turned it on and clinched victory after 132 races on the Charles River. Going 18-4 overall the Hawks were in control of their competition as the breeze had backed into the west at 7-12 knots today. The Brown Bears were only one win behind but finished solidly at 17-5.

Again, huge thanks to all the coaches who acted as umpires on the water and the members of the MIT Sailing Team who took turns finishing and scoring throughout the weekend.

The British University Teams had another rough go with an 0-22 record but they promised to make up for it at the Olympics this summer.
