Delaware Spring Open

Summary

Saturday, April 20:

First race began at 10:00am. Good sailing conditions were seen with 13-15 mph winds sustained with gusts up to 18 mph. Around 2:00pm winds started to pick up to 18 mph sustained with gusts up to 22 mph. During this time many B fleet boats began capsizing, with many requiring assistance in order to get their masts stuck out of the mud. No A fleet boats flipped. With gusts up 27 mph, many B fleet boats continued to flip, leaving tired sailors in cold water for longer than ideal amounts of time. The decision was made to have a 20 minute delay beginning at 2:50pm, in order to allow the fleet to regroup before continuing. A fleet was sent out at 3:20pm, races 5A and 6A were completed, and the day was concluded. Race committee was run by Delaware's Sophia Caracuzzo, scores were recorded by Brady Price, and all land activity was coordinated by Tanner Mathias.

Sunday, April 21:

Monmouth University did not participate in Sunday's races. Their boat remained out of commission on the dock during each rotation. Teams rotated around and through the empty boat accordingly throughout the day. During the last rotation of the day A and B divisions sailed one race each, 11A and 11B. After this, the weekend was brought to a close.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
