Anteater Open

Saturday, March 9:

16 teams visited sunny Newport Beach this weekend for two days of good racing. Very shifty light breeze in the morning meant for a postponement until the wind settled into a 8 knot westerly. Consistent and decent breeze allowed a total of 6 races to be had for each division. Moorings caused unpredictable and shifty conditions that made for a challenging, albeit short race course that the teams navigated well. Cal Maritime Academy led the first day with Berkeley and San Diego close on their tale. A strong current meant no recalls the entire day.

Sunday, March 10:

Sunday began with no wind calling for an on-shore postponement lasting until 11:30 when the wind built to a light 3 knots from the South. Unpredictable conditions made for a challenging course placement but the teams handled it well. We got 3 races off for each division ending in a total of 9 races completed. Multiple recalls were called. Congratulations to Cal Maritime Academy for winning the regatta!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
