MCSA Coed Championship

Summary

Saturday, April 22:

Day One of the MCSA CoEd Championship was a great day on the water with 13-15 kts from the NNE with gusts of 17 kts and mostly flat water. Eight races were sailed in each division with a total of 16 races for the day.

A protest hearing was heard by the Protest Committee which resulted in both Minnesota and Northwestern receiving DSQs for race 2B. A redress hearing was heard for Marquette for race 7B, and they were granted redress.

The first race for Sunday is scheduled for 0930. The teams placing in the top 5 overall will qualify for Coed National Semifinals in Charleston, SC.

Sunday, April 23:

Day two of the MCSA Coed Championship was a great day on the water with 3-7 kts from the Southeast, shifting to the East as the day went on, and flat water. Two races were sailed in each division with a total of 4 races for the day, finishing off the regatta with 10 races in both A and B divisions: a full rotation. No protests were held on Sunday.

Congratulations to Wisconsin, Northwestern, UW Milwaukee, Michigan, and Marquette on qualifying for the 2017 Gill Coed Sailing Semifinals in Charleston, South Carolina. Thank you so much to our PRO Jon and Jess Ledsworth and our Judges Betsy Altman, Geoff Pedrick, and Brian Tobelmann for making this a great, well run regatta.
