North Spring Qualifier

Saturday, April 18:

Saturday began with a SW breeze that faded by 10am. Breeze came in and out from the West throughout the morning but never materialized to start racing. At 11am a NW breeze filled quickly with good velocity around 10mph and race 1A was completed. By the finish of 1A the breeze had built to 15mph with gusts up to 18mph. We sent the fleet to shore and breeze continued to increase as the forecast suggested. Gusts up to 25mph kept the fleet on shore until 3:30pm when a window of opportunity allowed for races 2A and 3A to be completed. Racing was called for the day just before 5pm and race 1B will start us off for Sunday.

Thank you to the Cornell Big Red Sailors for helping out with our first regatta in the newly acquired Turbo 420's from WhiteCap Composite.

Sunday, April 19:

Sunday's racing began with a light NW breeze that took some time to fill in. By 10:30am we had a 6-8mph NW breeze and quickly completed races 1-3B. A division went out and were able to get 1 race in before the breeze died off. We took a short break on shore and went back out for race 5A at 1:30. By the time race 5A finished the breeze was shifting around again, and the decision was made to end A Divisions racing for the day. Race 4B was sailed in a light NW breeze. Finally the southerly won the battle and race 5B was completed at 2:55 in a 8-10mph SW breeze.

Thank you again to the Cornell sailors for facilitating great racing for the competitors. Congratulations to Cornell, Buffalo, and Webb for qualifying for the America Trophy in two weeks.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
