Eckerd Interconference

Saturday, March 14:

10 teams made the trek down to warm sunny Florida to compete in the Eckerd Intersectional. They were not disappointed. The race committee ran 3 race sets and 9 races were completed. The first 3 races were held in a light southeasterly of about 8 knots. As race 3 was ending the breeze began to build. Races 4-9 were held in a building southerly. The breeze peaked at about 14-16 knots and ended up southwest. You know it's windy in St Petersburg when you can see the kiteboarders out by the Sunshine Skyway bridge. The apparel of choice for most competitors was shorts and a tech t-shirt. The last race was finished at 3:30. The Eckerd Tritons hold a lead over the Charleston Cougars followed by the USF Bulls. Six race are scheduled for tomorrow.

Sunday, March 15:

The weather did not cooperate on day 2 of the Eckerd Interconference. It was cloudy with a light northerly wind. Competitors left the dock at 9:45 to attempt a race. A northerly teased competitors for about 30 minutes but no races were attempted. Competitors headed back to the dock. A light westerly filled in at about 12:45 but the pressure was not quite enough. Racing was called at 1:00 and the results stand from yesterday. Thanks to all the teams that made it and all the Eckerd Tritons for helping run a great regatta.
