Southern Series 1 @ SRU

Summary

Saturday, March 22:

Racing started at 10:03 in a pleasant 10-15 mph. At approximately 12:50, after completing 7 races, the breeze built to 18-20 mph with higher gusts. In the interest of safety, racing was concluded for the day. The first race for Sunday will begin at 10:00 am sharp, so don't be late. Special thanks to coaches from UNH and BC (Diana and Tyler) for acting as our safety boat and for rescuing one boat and assisting two others.

Sunday, March 23:

Today's racing started with pleasant conditions of South-Southwest winds of 8-10 MPH. Later the wind shifted around to the Northwest building to 16-18 MPH with some large chop. Racing was concluded this weekend with a total of 9 races in each division.

A big thank you to the Salve team for their support on and off the water, especially during rotations and through a few breakdowns. Another big thank you to the coaches from UNH and BC (Diana and Tyler) for hearing two protests. A port-starboard situation resulted in both boats being disqualified; one for failing to keep clear of the right of way boat, and the other for failing to avoid unnecessary contact resulting in damage. The other protest resulted in a DSQ for hitting the leeward mark.

Congratulations to Tufts for winning the Southern Series opener!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
