The sunshine state saw nothing but overcast skies and upper 50s to lower 60s for the first SAISA regatta of the spring season at Eckerd College. Saturday was dominated by light conditions and a shifty offshore northerly gradient. The race committee and sailors were kept on there toes as the breeze varied anywhere from a northwest to a northeast throughout the day. Several races were abandoned due to massive shifts. Courses were W3s,W4s and W5s. Race 6A was completed before the sailors were sent home. SAISA Commissioner, Mitch "the Commiss" Hall, ordered pizzas and salads for all the teams to enjoy as they gathered for the SAISA annual meeting. Many topics were discussed including the possibility of more SAISA open regattas during the semester. Racing resumes tomorrow.
Sunday started out similar to Saturday with overcast skies and a northerly breeze. A few races were attempted but the breeze continued to fade and sailors found themselves becalmed each time they were on the first downwind. Several races were abandoned. Luckily the sun had come out and eventually a southwesterly seabreeze filled. Several races were run with nice steady wind. The breeze continued to shift to the left becoming a southerly by race 7B. Then the wind shut off again. Breezes were battling. One moment we had a southerly then a northwesterly followed by a northeasterly. Race Committee Officer Bobby "The Boy" Savoie was left scratching his head. Eventually the northwest breeze won the battle and a final race was sailed. This was the best wind of the whole regatta and made for a good finish. Thanks to all the SAISA teams for coming and for traveling so far and thanks to all the Tritons that helped run the event. Congrats to the Cougars for the win.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
