Northwestern's Spring

Summary

Saturday, April 5:

We had some great conditions today for the first day of Northwestern's spring regatta. While the fleet headed out a little late the chilly temps, (40's) with a nice breeze of about 10 knots. The wind died towards noon, to about 5-6 knots, but then picked back up to about 13 knots by the end of the day. While waves made the beach launch tricky we got off six A races and four B races. The course also had to be adjusted a few times due to very shifty wind. Pro Cindy Kraus did a great job managing races and adjusting the course, and Geoff Pedrick only have two redresses to address throughout the day.

Sunday, April 6:

Sailors arrived to the boat house at 9:30 am and we started our first race at 10:05. Thankfully, today was warmer at a brisk mid 40's. We started with a westerly wind that gradually shifted south. While initially 7.5 knots, we closed out sailing at 15 knots. Cindy Kraus again did a great job running regattas, thankfully there were less wind shifts so she had to do much less maneuvering of the course. Geoff Pedrick had a few more protests and redresses today so quite a bit busier. We ended the day day with a re-sail of the first races of the regatta. With all races scored accounted for Minnesota women won the regatta followed by Minnesota 2 and then Notre Dame 1. A big thanks to all the sailors who came, the sailors who helped, PRO Cindy Kraus, Cheif Judge Geoff Pedrick, and his Judge panel.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
