Robert Morris Invitational

Summary

Saturday, March 24:

On Saturday, sailors were greeted with fog and a calm Monroe Harbor in downtown Chicago. Around 10am, the first A-set was sailed in a light Northeasterly, which quickly faded as the fog returned and B-division was held ashore for postponement. Racing resumed after the Northeasterly returned and the Race Committee was able to run 6 races in each division in about 6-12kts. Courses were W4s and W3s. One redress was filed and denied, and one yellow flag was given on the starting line.

Sunday, March 25:

Similar morning on Sunday for the sailors - no wind and fog. A nice 8-12kt Northeasterly filled and blew away the fog, to bring early summer like conditions and temperatures. 4 more races were completed in each division before the 1PM non-championship cut-off time. Courses were W4s and W3s. One breakdown was filed and granted, and one protest was heard and resulted in a DSQ. Two boats were DSQ for not completing their penalty turns properly after being given a yellow flag.

Big thanks to the Race Committee volunteers at Columbia YC for running races, Robert Morris University students and volunteers for hosting, the Columbia YC junior sailors for all their help on and off the water, and the Columbia YC staff for the great food and hospitality in hosting the second annual Robert Morris Invitational.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
