ICSA Match Race National Championship

Friday, November 3:

Day 1 of the ICSA Match Race National Championship greeted the 10 Teams with a very nice northly breeze that held most of the day until the end when it faded and became a nice 10 kt easterly. The Race Committee was able to complete Stage 1 which was a full round robin of all 10 Teams with the results as follows. 1. Yale 9 points 2. Brown 8 points 3. Georgetown 7 points 4. Charleston 5 points 5. Stanford 5 points 6. Coast Guard 4 points 7. Jacksonville 3 points 8. Tulane 2 points 9. Navy 2 points 10. Chicago 0 points

Saturday, November 4:

Day 2 of the ICSA Match Race National Championship began with chilly Charleston conditions and another nice northly breeze. Stages 2, 3 (Quarter's) and 4 (Semi's) were completed which set Sunday up for a Petit-Finals between Georgetown and Yale and the Finals between Brown and Coast Guard.

Sunday, November 5:

The final day of the ICSA Match Race National Championship began with a medium NNW breeze which faded a bit after the first flight and then increased and held for the second and third flights of the day. In the end it was Yale 2-1 over Georgetown in the Petit-Finals and Brown 3-0 in the Finals. A huge congratulations to the Brown Bears for being crowned as the 2023 ICSA Match Race National Champions. Big thanks to the CofC Sailing Center Staff, Bosun Rob Morrow, PRO Chip Till and the RC Team and John Pratt and the Umpire Team.
