After a long, long delay waiting for breeze, racing began at around 3:15pm for the NEISA Monotype Trophy/Open Singlehanded Championship and the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship at the Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion at the Edgewood Yacht Club. Five races on W4 courses for both fleets were sailed in a building southerly, which started out at 5-8 knots and built to 10-14 knots by the last two races. It was a beautiful day out there and the racing was really tight despite the 25 minute races.
A huge thanks to the Edgewood Yacht Club for supporting this event and helping with powerboats and marks, and to Coast Guard, Harvard, Roger Williams, and URI for bringing powerboats. Thanks as well to Zim for providing ILCA charter boats and support, and to Mike Kalin for being the NEISA Rep. Thank you to Judges Patrick Shanahan (Brown '19), Gabe Hannon (Brown '20) and Hannah Steadman (Brown '20). Three requests for breakdown points were awarded to Dartmouth, Tufts, and Yale.

It was an awesome day of racing on day two of the NEISA Monotype Trophy/Open Singlehanded Championship and the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship. Seven more races on W4 courses for the Open fleet of ILCA 7's and five more races for the Women in the ILCA 6's were sailed in a shifty westerly ranging everywhere from 8-16 knots. It was a gorgeous day with temps in the 80's.

Two protests were filed on Sunday in the Open fleet with one being disallowed and one resulting in a DSQ. Thanks to the judges with help from Dartmouth Coach Justin Assad and Boston College Coach Evan Cooke.
Congratulations to Brown's Leyton Borcherding '25 on winning the 2022 NEISA Monotype Trophy/Open Singlehanded Championship by only point after 12 races over Yale's Nicholas Davies '24. Racing was super tight throughout the 27-boat fleet, especially in the top group and it came down to last race between the top four boats for first. Brown's Connor Nelson '24 finished 3rd overall, just 7 points out of first.
