Perfect regatta except for one thing; it was incomplete. We got four A and two B races before the 7:00 time limit. Another B race was sailed with ten boats and didn't count. The sores for 3B were really the fourth A race.
Great event with North wind, somewhat mild temperatures (that dropped with the wind), food for all, music, and even a little dancing on the dock. Teh first A set was in the dropping sun lighting up the East side of the lake. First B set was right after sunset at dusk. Next A set was in the dark with boats and buoys all lit with new flashlights. Even the sunset was punctuated by a setting crescent Moon with the dark side gently illuminated with Earthshine.
The unique course was the Apex three. It includes a broad reach start from two opposing start lines before running through the windward gate, through the leeward gate, back up to the windward gate, and finishing downwind in the leeward gate, right by the dock.
Nearly every team was a club team or near equivalent and many competitors sailed their last college regatta of 2022. All seemed to enjoy. Thanks to the many helping Jumbos lead by the tri-captains.
