Chesapeake Invitational

Summary

Saturday, September 17:

Day one of the 2022 Faye Bennet / Chesapeake Invitational began with an on shore postponement until 1115. At that point, the forecasted SE breeze began to fill in and the regatta left shore and headed for Kerr Cove to get away from the motor boat chop. Eight races were completed in a building sea breeze for both events. One breakdown request was heard that resulted in the judges awarding the boat their position at the time of the incident. One protest was filed that was disallowed. A good forecast tomorrow should allow us to complete the remaining six races in the format.

Sunday, September 18:

Day two of the 2022 Faye Bennet / Chesapeake Invitational also began with a postponement, but this one was on the water. A 10-12 knot sea breeze eventually filled in at 1300 allowing the race committee to complete six ILCA races and five dinghy races. One protest was filed that was disallowed. Congratulations to the home team for winning the Chesapeake Invitational and to Cornell’s Lucija Ruzevik for winning the Faye Bennet and earning MAISA’s single automatic berth to Single Handed Nationals!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
