Laser North Qualifier

Summary

Saturday, September 11:

The wind gods were at odds with the weathermen for most of the morning, as forecast winds were much less and from a different direction from what was observed at USMMA-Kings Point. Racing was postponed until 1130, when there was finally enough wind, but the 30-40 degree shifts as the WNW wind fought with the SW wind for a few hours made setting a course very frustrating. The breeze finally settled in from the SSW at 10-12 kts. around 1530. The Lasers completed 10 races by 1730. There were two breakdowns awarded average points and one request for redress which will be heard tomorrow before racing. - PRO Rick Dominique

Sunday, September 12:

Today was a much more reliable day. The sailors were greeted at KP by a 5-knot southwesterly breeze that built to 14 knots by the end of racing. 4 races completed the 14-race regatta. Congratulations to KP's Carrter Pearce '23 on winning the event. As usual, special thanks to the USMMA midshipmen for their time to help run the regatta, and to Sue Miller for hearing the one request for redress. - PRO Rick Dominique

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
