Saturday started with delays due to storms in the area. Racing began around 11:15 and six races were completed in each division. Races were sailed on W4s and W3s. Throughout the day sailors sailed in NW to W winds from 4-14knots. Despite all the rain it was a decent day of racing.
Seneca delivered a classic west wind today ranging from 10-20 knots. Sailors were kept on their toes as large puffs and lulls came off the hill with the standard lack of predictability of a west wind. All races were W4s and W3s and 12 races were completed per division. Thank you to the HWS Sailors who helped run the event and braved the constant rain on Saturday. Congratulations to HWS for winning the 2021 David Lee Arnoff Trophy. It was a special weekend for the Hobart and William Smith Sailing Team and the Arnoff family. This weekend we celebrated the legacy of David Lee Arnoff, Hobart Class of 1982. David was a passionate and accomplished sailor. The HWS Fall Regatta was named in his honor. A perpetual half-model trophy, The David Lee Arnoff Trophy, will serve as a reminder that dedication, passion and friendship are important in all our endeavors on and off the water. All of these qualities were important to David.
