Buckeye Invitational

Summary

Saturday, September 15:

After a day of beautiful weather at the Hoover Reservoir, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are off to an early lead at the 2018 Buckeye Invitational. The day was marked by sunshine, warm breezes, and shifty winds! The home team Ohio State Buckeyes are in second place, and the Hope College Flying Dutchmen are currently leading a tight battle for 3rd. While getting off to a late start, the fleet completed 12 races (3 complete rotations). We are excited to be back at it again tomorrow (with a bit more wind).

Best regards from Columbus Ohio!

Sunday, September 16:

Another beautiful day of sailing on the Hoover Reservoir! Two more complete rotations today brought the weekend total to five rotations, with plenty of sunshine in between.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish won first place overall, followed by the Ohio State Buckeyes and then the Purdue Boilermakers.

In the A-division, Notre Dame also placed first, followed by the Boilermakers and then the Western Michigan Broncos, who finished strong to close out a tight race for 3rd place.

In the B-division, the Ohio State Buckeyes took top honors in a nail-biter of a finish, followed closely behind by the Fighting Irish and the Hope College Flying Dutchmen.

Thank you to the race committee and to all who helped on shore (and on rescue boats) to help make this weekend possible!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
