Racing began at 4:30 and continued until 6:15pm. Four races completed.
Nine teams competed for the SAISA Fall Women's Championships, with A and B divisions racing combined. The first four races were sailed late Saturday afternoon in a light drizzle and very flat water. Winds followed the local storms around the compass, from SW to W to NW to N, in the 5-9 knot range. A very strong ebb tide resulted in some interesting starts. All races were W4, except the final race, a W5.
The final five races were sailed Sunday morning under sunny skies, winds ESE 5-9 knots, and very choppy seas. All races were W4, averaging 15-18 minutes in length. No protests files.
A division winners Allie Toppa and Caroline Bracken (CoC) won 4 of the 9 races, while B division winners Paula Resto and Kelsy Waack (JU) won 2 races and were third overall in the combined divisions. Congratulations to College of Charleston, University of South Florida, and Eckerd College for qualifying for the ACC Women's Regatta at Conn College.
Many, many thanks to all of the SAISA women's teams who drove up to 10 hours to attend the event and to USF coach Alan Capellin for all of his support.
