Fall Fury

Summary

Saturday, September 12:

The first day of racing at Fall Fury brought us shifty and variable conditions of 5-15 kts out the North, leaving sailors with lots of chop and tough tactical decisions to contend with. 8 races were sailed in each division, with teams getting off of the water by about 5:00 pm. Two protests were filed, but no hearings were had, as one protest was invalid and the other was dropped before the hearing. At the end of the day, Wisco 1 and Wisco 2 led the regatta, with Gophers 1 in a very close third. We would like to thank Dave Elsmo, Cappy Capper, and Geoff Pedrick for acting as judges, Claire Dennis for being PRO and the Minnesota sailing team for towing a boat.

Sunday, September 13:

The second day of Fall Fury was met with warm weather and a south-westerly breeze of about 5-10 knots. The water was flat and the wind was shifty. This made for difficult sailing conditions. The sailors were off the water by 3:30 and sailed 5 races per division. There were no protests filed. Wisco 1 finished the event in first, Wisco 2 finished the event in second, and the Minnesota Gophers 1 finished in third. We would like to thank Cappy Capper, Dave Elsmo, and Geoff Pedrick for being our judges and Kirstin Reeser for acting as our PRO. Lastly, we would like to thank all the teams that participated and Minnesota for towing a boat.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
