PC Invitational

Summary

Saturday, October 18:

Providence College Invitational was held in upper Narragansett Bay from the Rhode Island Yacht Club. Shifting winds 10-16 knots from the prevailing Southwest direction, and temperatures in the low 70s, allowed for perfect mid October racing. Two divisions from eleven teams competed with Coast Guard Academy, Salve Regina, and Connecticut College dominating a series of close finishes for the day. Six races were completed per division. One breakdown by PC (shroud disconnection) resulted in one DNF and one DNS.

Sunday, October 19:

Day two of the Providence College Invitational saw totally different conditions from the previous day. A weather front brought colder temperatures and stronger winds from the completely opposite direction. The increased wind resulted in two capsizings. Four races per division were completed with Coast Guard finishing strong in both divisions to seize the team victory. Thank you to our PC Sailing Club volunteers as well as Brown sailing for use of their boat and Salve Regina Coach Ingalls for manning the mark boat.?

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
