Cornell Fall Open

Summary

Saturday, September 13:

Sailors arrived to a light SW breeze around 5-7mph and racing got underway at 9:45am. The breeze was extremely shifty and the rain was coming down hard at times, but the race committee did a nice job getting off the races. Once the rain stopped we hoped the breeze would settle but it did not. Winds were ranging from SE to W and eventually NW, at which point the wind picked up considerably with gusts over 25mph. Race 7A finished their W4 in big breeze and headed straight for the dock and racing was ended for the day at 5pm. One protest was filed resulting in an RAF.

In total, 7A and 6B races were held. Thank you to the Cornell Team RC work in the rainy conditions. HWS was clearly the best team out there today and they lead headed into Sunday.

Sunday, September 14:

Teams arrived Sunday to a light northerly that stuck around all day with no delays in the racing. Breeze ranged from 5-12mph throughout the day and in total 5A and 6B races were held. There was 1 protest filed resulting in a DSQ for Army. In total 12A and 12B races were held until the time limit was up on Sunday.

Congratulations to HWS for winning the 2014 Cornell Fall Open, followed by Fordham and Cornell.

Thank you to all the Big Red Sailors for running a great event.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
